Junk Removal Items We Take

What We Take & Our Commitment to Responsible Disposal

Our Commitment: Everything in its Right Place.

At HD Green Solutions, our goal goes beyond simply clearing your space—we are committed to responsible disposal. We believe that "junk" shouldn't just be dumped; it should be managed. That means we take the extra time to sort your items and ensure every single piece ends up at its proper destination, whether that is a recycling facility, a donation center, or a regulated landfill.

What We Take We handle a vast range of items to make your life easier. If it’s non-hazardous and two strong people can lift it, we can likely take it.

  • Household Items: Furniture, mattresses, appliances (fridges, stoves), and electronics.

  • General Waste: Bagged trash, household clutter, and garage overflow.

  • Renovation Debris: Drywall, lumber, flooring, tiling, and glass.

  • Outdoor Waste: Yard trimmings, branches, fencing, and old decks.

What We Cannot Take To ensure the safety of our team and to comply with PEI environmental regulations, there are specific hazardous materials we cannot accept in our trucks:

  • Hazardous Liquids: Paint, chemicals, solvents, or motor oil.

  • Fuel & Tanks: Propane tanks, gasoline, or jerry cans.

  • Bio-Hazards: Asbestos or medical waste.

The "Green" in Our Solution We take our name seriously. We don't just drive to the dump; we act as a sorting checkpoint. Usable furniture is donated to local charities, metals and cardboards are routed to recycling facilities, and only true waste is taken to the landfill. When you choose us, you are choosing a cleaner, greener Prince Edward Island.

What Is Hazardous Waste? (And Why You Can’t Just Bin It)

Dealing with hazardous waste is often the most confusing part of any cleanout. You might find yourself holding a can of old varnish or a dusty bottle from the back of the garage and asking: "Can this go in the trash?"

The short answer is: No.

What Counts as "Hazardous"? According to the Federal Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and provincial regulations, hazardous waste isn't limited to industrial factories. It includes everyday household items that are corrosive, flammable, explosive, or poisonous.

Because these items pose a risk to human health and the environment, they cannot go into municipal garbage, standard recycling bins, or regular landfills. Common examples include:

  • Flammables: Gasoline, lighter fluid, and solvents.

  • Chemicals: Pesticides, herbicides, and strong cleaning agents.

  • Automotive: Motor oil, antifreeze, and car batteries.

  • Household: Paints, varnishes, stains, and regular batteries.

  • Medical: Sharps (needles) and expired medications.

How to Dispose of It Safely in PEI Improper disposal isn't just illegal; it creates long-term risks, from contaminating our groundwater to causing chemical burns. To protect our island, these items must go to a certified facility.

Where to Take Hazardous Waste At HD Green Solutions, we are committed to safety. To protect our team and the environment, we do not haul hazardous waste.

Instead, these items should be taken to Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC). They operate specific Waste Watch

Drop-Off Centers designed to handle these materials safely. We encourage you to contact them directly for the nearest drop-off location and hours:
